Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
PPE must be worn when working with chemicals
Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when working at any wetbench (fume hood) located within any QNFCF lab.
As detailed in equipment-specific standard operating procedures (see section 4 in the following sample document), anyone using a wetbench rated for use with acids or bases MUST wear the following pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE):
- Cleanroom Nitrile gloves
- Safety glasses
- Tychem yellow apron
- Faceshield
- Green Nitrile gloves on top of white cleanroom gloves
The only exceptions are for the "pieces" or "wafers" spin coaters as well as for the Develop or Solvent Wetbenchs which require that the following PPE be worn:
- Cleanroom Nitrile gloves
- Safety glasses
- Faceshield
IMPORTANT
NEVER walk around the lab or sit at other work stations while wearing PPE. Doing so may cause cross-contamination thus leaving dangerous chemical residues at random locations throughout the lab. This may damage equipment and cause physical injury to yourself or others.
Non compliance will result in loss of member privileges
