Authorized Materials

Lab members wishing to introduce new materials into this system must first obtain authorization from staff. New material requests must be initiated by submitting a Process Review Request form.

Authorized Substrates and Thin Films

Any hard, dry samples can be loaded on the vacuum stage. This includes;   

  • Silicon
  • III-V's such as GaAs/P, InAs/P etc.
  • Quartz
  • Sapphire
  • HOPG
  • Mica 
  • Glass

Vacuum grease may be used on glass slides to adhere samples which are small or oddly shaped to sit in the vacuum stage. 

PROHIBITED Substrates & Films

  • No tapes or adhesives can be used on the vacuum stage
